Wedding Invitations as Keepsakes

You don't want your wedding invitation to be put in a drawer, never to be seen again. To keep this special keepsake from getting lost in the mix, you'll need a creative way to display what, in some cases, may only be a simple piece of paper. Weddings are one of the most celebrated, joyous and happy celebrations that a couple experiences in their life. So, why not remember the happiness of the day with a gorgeous wedding frame? Wedding frames make fantastic wedding presents and great gifts for newlywed couples. There are several framing and display options that will not only draw attention to your wedding invitation but will also create a unique decoration for your home.

Custom Framing

Most wedding invitations do not come in traditional paper sizes. Custom framing can be made to fit the invitation, while also matching the colors and themes of the invitation. You can choose a traditional wood or metal frame, or you could also consider having a specialty glass shop frame the invitation in stained or decorative glass. This type of framing would look especially distinctive when held up by a plate stand or hung by a fancy string or rope on the wall.

Shadow Boxes

A shadow box can add some dimension to your wedding invitation. The invitation can be the main focal point of the shadow box and then be complemented by flowers, the wedding program and other keepsakes from the wedding day. Using dried or preserved flowers from the wedding bouquet creates a special display for multiple wedding memories. Shadow boxes come in many different shapes and designs and can be chosen to match the overall theme of the wedding. A unique option that is similar to a shadow box is a domed picture frame. Domes are often less expensive, because they are made of less material, but they can serve a similar purpose and still be hung on the wall or propped up on a bookshelf.

Engraved Wedding Invite Display

Glass can be etched with a special saying, poem or just the wedding date in order to creatively display your wedding invitation. This is a very personalized way to frame the invitation and creates an endless number of possibilities. Often, a cutout is designated within a piece of glass for the wedding invitation, while the glass surrounding the cutout is engraved with special wording chosen by the couple. Larger pieces of glass can also be found that have more than one cutout for accompanying pictures to go with the framed invitation.

So, do you or will you display your wedding invitations in your home? If so, where and how? I would love to know!
