Thank You Notes Made Easy

I am not sure if it is due to my Southern roots or an old-fashioned upbringing, but my mother was a stickler for writing Thank You notes. Not a birthday, Easter, Christmas or any other celebration passed without us having to sit down and hand write a note of gratitude.

A lot of people are unsure of when or how to write a thank you note. It really isn't as intimidting as it may seem when you are sitting there with your stack of blank thank you cards.

There are few absolutes in manners any more but one that has not faded is the Wedding Thank You card. If you receive a gift you must send a personal Thank You note. Though it can seem like a daunting task, if you prepare and follow a few guidelines you might find that you are actually enjoying it!

Don't Write a Long Letter

Although you want to make it personal it doesn't have to be long. Simply offer thanks, make a personal comment or two, and sign your name. Four or five sentences will work for almost everyone!

Make it Meaningful

Your friends and family went to considerable expense, time, and effort to attend your wedding, so honor that by making your Thank You notes personal. Your wedding guests will appreciate the effort.

Break it up

Don't try and muddle through your entire list at once - break it up! If you do 5-10 each evening you will not burn yourself out and you will still finish them in plenty of time. Speaking of time - how long do you have? Typically, all of your Thank You cards should be done within three months.

Just keep these things in mind and you have this wedding task done before you know it - and the goodwill you earn will be more than worth it!
